HOW DID YOU FIRST GET EXPOSED TO CROSSFIT? Take us back to your first WOD.... what was it, anyhow did it feel?
I actually came to Crossfit for the freebie soon after you guys had opened from an article in either ACPress or the local paper. I liked it, but put it on hold until, well, 3 years ago November. Then I was talking to Jackie when I
was a VP at Fernwood school and she was talking about Crossfit. I decided when I hit my heaviest that I needed to do something drastic and the years at Tilton just wasn't working, so I came in and joined.
I don't remember the WOD but it kicked my butt- they all do!!!! But, the competitor in me kept me coming, plus everyone was encouraging. You and Frank scaled the workouts so that I could feel successful and not awkward.
"Well, my endurance has definitely improved and I feel firmer. With my thyroid issue, losing weight is hard, but it's amazing how the weight training has improved how I fit my clothes now. As for health, I was told
a few months ago that my bone density scan (you get this sh*t when you a** is old) had made dramatic improvements from the years prior. They asked what I did and I told them, "Crossfit".
I really enjoy Crossfit and I am so glad that I returned to it. It is a part of my life now. I truly appreciate the great atmosphere at the gym. It is a pleasure to come there even knowing the WODs will kick my tail, but I complete them and that is satisfying to me.
"
HOW HAS CROSSFIT IMPACTED YOUR LIFE?Crossfit has been great for my grit! When I joined Crossfit I was the heaviest I have ever been and the regular gyms were not working. I knew that I needed to do weights, but I had no knowledge of what to do. Crossfit does it all for you.
I enjoy coming to class (even when there are burpees) and trying hard each time even if I know I will either die at the end or be sore for the next few days. I consider Crossfit a part of my weekly routine and when I can't make the class, I really feel a void in my week.
I do more workouts at home when I miss class and I continue to make better eating choices which I learned about from Frank's nutritional challenges.
